Fairy Tale Cottages


Once Upon a Time... …there might have been such a gathering of your favorite fairy tale characters.
	Now you can make believe in one of our collection of antique summer camp cottages, rescued some years ago to provide Ravenwood Guests with a unique escape from the real world. They are nestled in a sunny meadow beside a meandering stream with several little waterfalls. In keeping with one of our missions “…to rescue, reuse and recreate historic buildings, artifacts and lifestyles…” we renovate and re-theme these cottages every few years. This year we selected several of our favorite stories for your enjoyment.
Fairy tales are part of every cultural heritage…boy wins girl, everyone overcome obstacles and dangers, and all “live happily ever after.” What could be more fun for modern-day folks stressed out by modern life than to let down their hair (like Rapunzel); climb a beanstalk (instead of a corporate ladder); or fall in love all over again with their own Prince or Princess?
Our cottages all sleep at least two adults and one or two children (or elves and fairies, perhaps). Please note that insurance and fire marshal regulations prohibit anyone from sleeping directly on the floor, so please observe our occupancy limits when booking. (Thanks!) Breakfast is included in your cottage rate. Each cottage has a bathroom with shower stall (one also has an antique tub with shower); and a kitchenette with sink, fridge and microwave; and plates, cups, mugs and silverware for four people. (Please note that fire and insurance regulations also prohibit outdoor fires or grills, as we are more than ten minutes from the nearest fire station.) All have heat and air conditioning that you can adjust for your comfort. There is a telephone available for guest use, as most cell phones don’t work in this area. There is no TV reception. You may bring a small DVD player or radio if it is played quietly only indoors and no one else can hear it. (We also suggest romantic novels or books of fairy tales for your evening entertainment!) So leave the modern world behind for a day or a few…. and choose one of your favorite characters for a visit to another time and place! Fairy Tales can come true…!

	Snow White
	Drift into a cloud of aqua, blue and rose…a separate little bedroom (full size bed) for the grown-ups and a double futon for sitting…or the sleeping of another person or two. Castle wall murals and an antique dining table with four chairs are part of the décor. The bathroom with shower overhears a tiny waterfall just beneath the window.
	Hansel and Gretel
	Peppermints, candy canes, lifesavers and gumdrops decorate the outside of this cozy pink cottage. Inside is a queen bed, a flip-out loveseat for sitting or sleeping, and a shower-bathroom with a stained glass window. A porch overlooks the creek.
	Frog Prince
	An arrogant frog occupies a green, screened back porch where you can imagine the green well in the story of “The Frog Prince.” Inside is a queen bed with frog-printed linens, a shower-bathroom with more frogs and a stained glass window. A front porch offers a different view of life in a Fairy Tale Village.
	Little Red Riding Hood
	Outside, it's peachy with a red door. Inside is red and white decor with a queen bed, flip out chair, and a genuine red riding hood you can use for your own play acting. Wear it to breakfast if you like, but please put it back on the hook when you depart
	Sleeping Beauty
	Carefully-trained vines drape the front porch of this spacious lavender cottage. A separate bedroom offers privacy and comfort for the King and Queen, while twin daybeds host two more people. Cute bathroom has a small antique tub with shower.
