When we set out to raise money for Child's Play, we needed a name for our fundraising efforts. It didn't take long before we settled on Hoop & Stick.
But why Hoop & Stick?
Well, we are raising money to make sure children have games to play, and we reside in a medieval castle. Hoop & Stick is a game that children may have played in medieval castles.
See what we did there?

Hoop and Stick is the catch all for Ravenwood Castle's charitable efforts. We are not a registered charity (yet), so all of our fundraising currently benefits registered 501(c)(3) charities.
Our favored cause, and the beneficiary of RavenCon, is Child's Play.
Why Child's Play? Their sole mission is to improve the lives of children in hospitals around the world through the kindness and generosity of gamers, and the power of play. That's a mission we can get behind.

Our goal with RavenCon is to raise $5,000. To accomplish this goal, we've woven several fundraising mechanisms through the very fabric of RavenCon.
First, we will be launching a month long online donation drive in advance of RavenCon itself. This drive will use Child's Play's ChipIn! link, so the funds will go directly to Child's Play.
Second, $50 of every RavenCon ticket will be going directly to Child’s Play (the remainder covers the cost of the Saturday night Medieval Style dinner).
Third, 100% of the proceeds from the silent auction & raffle will be going to Child’s Play.
Finally, Ravenwood Castle will be donating 50% of all room rentals for the RavenCon weekend to Child’s Play.
To ensure maximum transparency, Ravenwood Castle will be depositing the funds raised by the ticket sales, silent auction, and room rental into the same ChipIn! link used in the donation drive.

RavenCon 2013, and Hoop & Stick, is a fairly extensive undertaking, and we can use all the help we can get!
There are a number of wonderful individuals and companies who have generously agreed to provide support, whether financial or otherwise, to our efforts. If you would like to join them, please send an email to ravencon@ravenwoodcastle.com
