The Malted Meeple Board Game Cafe
Our mission at Ravenwood Castle is to provide our guests with a great place – and a great way – to spend quality time with family and friends.
We’re thrilled to continue that mission with the launch of The Malted Meeple, your local hangout for Craft Beer, Hobby Gaming and Mega Milkshakes.
Patterned off of Ravenwood Castle’s own Raven’s Roost Pub, the Malted Meeple provides a casual environment, a great selection of craft beer, a library full of amazing games, and a friendly staff more than happy to teach them!
The Malted Meeple offers a few new twists, items that you won’t find here at Ravenwood Castle. Most notably, we have added craft milkshakes to our lineup of great beverages. Hand made with locally sourced ice cream, these shakes are sure to put a smile on your face. We’ll even have a Mega Milkshake – at nearly two quarts you’ll want to bring some friends before tackling this beast!
The Malted Meeple’s first location is in Hudson, Ohio and serves the northeastern Ohio region. We have our eyes on several other locations, and plan to bring a Malted Meeple to your town soon!
What's a Meeple?
The word “Meeple” was coined in 2000 during a game of Carcassone, to describe the now iconic wooden game pieces.
Believed to be a combination of “my” and “people”, the term is now commonly used to refer to person-shaped tokens in many board games.
The Origin of The Malted Meeple
Legend has it that during a late night game at Ravenwood Castle, a player accidentally dropped one of his meeples. Those gathered around the table watched helplessly as the innocent game piece tumbled straight into the player’s glass, and sank into the delicious craft beer contained therein.
There must have been some magic in that malted beer that day; for when the Meeple finally dried he demanded a chance to play!
From that day on, this special Meeple was known as Marvin, and craved two things: board games, and all things malt-related. Marvin, and those like him, can find both at The Malted Meeple!
