June Game of the Month – Dead Last

The Game of the Month series highlights one of the many games in our libraries at Ravenwood Castle and The Malted Meeple. We will briefly describe the game, how to play it, and why we like it.

Game: Dead Last

At Ravenwood Castle and the Malted Meeple, we enjoy games that involve social interaction. They’re some of our favorite games, and often end up picked to be our Game of the Month. We love these games because they are easy to learn, support a large group of players, and offer guests a great deal of satisfaction – often by bribing, scheming, and discovering hidden traitors.

The newest addition to our library, and our June Game of the Month, is Dead Last from Smirk & Dagger. This much anticipated game will be released later this month, but you can play it at The Malted Meeple right now, as we have an exclusive preview copy!

Dead Last is a social collusion game where 6 – 12 players conspire with – and against –one another to vote to kill off a player each round. The player with the most votes is eliminated, along with any player who did not vote for the target. Communication is essential in Dead Last. Any form of overt or covert communication is allowed, from a subtle nod, a casual glance, texting, or even a quick flash of your card. Seriously anything goes!  But you have to be careful not to draw attention to your target as you conspire with the other players. If your target figures out you’re gunning for them, they can ambush one of the would-be assailants instead! A round can end with no players left alive and no one gaining gold, one player gaining four gold, or two players locked in a deadly showdown. The first player with 24 gold wins the game!

Dead Last delivers everything we love in a social game: conspiracies, player elimination, and fast paced “take that!” action. Get ready for some back-stabbing fun as only Smirk & Dagger Games can deliver. Will you feel the bitter taste of defeat at your friend’s betrayal? Or will you emerge victorious and be Dead Last?

Dead Last will be joining the Ravenwood Castle library as soon as it is released to the public. In the meantime, stop into The Malted Meeple throughout June and enjoy our exclusive preview copy!
