A Weekend at Ravenwood Castle

Taking time to recharge is crucial, especially in times like these. Venturing off from the hustle and bustle for a few days can make all the difference in our personal and professional lives. Here at Ravenwood Castle we love being in the heart of the Hocking Hills region – there is so much to do and see, which is why we think Ravenwood is the perfect getaway no matter the occasion! While being around so many things to do and see, we also are a perfect home base to come back to.  This week on Quoth the Raven we are mocking up a weekend itinerary of what your stay at Ravenwood Castle could look like!

Friday

3:00 PM – Check-in time! Stop in the back office off the Great Hall to grab a map of the property, check out our board game library, get your room keys, and meet some of our incredible Innkeepers.

4:00 PM – While unpacking and settling in you discover the unique charms of your specific room – one being the guest book where people write their stories and experiences at Ravenwood! Maybe at the end of your stay you’ll add to it yourself.

6:00 PM – Having just spent the last two hours enjoying our on-site hiking trails, you decide it is time to head back to the game library and pick out a few favorites to play before dinner. There are a few families in the Great Hall already, so you decide to play back in the comfort of your room.

7:30 PM – After a game of Catan and King of Tokyo, it’s finally time to eat! All that gaming sure worked up an appetite, and good thing because it’s time for the Great Hall Dinner. Every Friday and Saturday night the Castle does a buffet meal that is available to add on to any reservation.

8:30 PM – Dinner was great, but a nightcap is a must since it is your first night at Ravenwood. You go downstairs to the Raven’s Roost Pub to grab a craft beer and sit out on our patio enjoying the peace and quiet.

9:00 PM – You head back to your room with another board game and the intention to retire to bed early. You have a big day tomorrow, after all!

Saturday

8:30 AM – Breakfast time! The Castle’s breakfast buffet is complimentary to all guests staying on-site. As fuel for the day, you make yourself a plate of fresh fruit, our pancake bake, and some muffins.

9:30 AM – You decided to spend the morning adventuring on a few nearby hiking trails. Ash Cave and Old Man’s Cave are both only 20 minute drive from the Castle so you leave early to avoid crowds. After lacing up your hiking boots, you’re ready to go!

11:30 AM – You decide to make a pit stop at the Logan Antique Mall to see if you can find any treasures to take back home. Luckily for you, Millstone BBQ is only a few minutes away! Nothing says lunch like a big plate of barbeque. After a bit of research you find that there are quite a few places to eat in Logan – you make note to check out the Hocking Hills Winery next time!

2:00 PM – You’ve hiked. You’re antiqued. You’ve eaten. While a midday nap sounds perfect, you instead head to Hocking Hills Canopy Tours! You decide to do the popular Canopy Tour which has been awarded “Best Outdoor Adventure in Ohio” three years in a row.

4:00 PM – After the short drive back to the Castle, you decide to relax a bit in your room. You wander over to the Library which is located right off of the Raven’s Roost Pub to grab a puzzle to bring back to your room.

5:30 PM – Instead of the buffet tonight, you decide to grab a to-go order from our Pub menu. An Excaliburger and Dragon Wings? Easy choice.

6:30 PM – You stop by the front desk to ask for our two on-site Scavenger Hunts that you overheard other guests talking about. While you sped through the starter scavenger hunt, the intermediate version tripped you up a few times!

8:30 PM – It was a long day, but all the travel and excitement was worth it. You’re nestled in your cozy bed after a relaxing bath and are ready to get a great night’s rest at your home away from home.
