After exploring our 53 acres, enjoying our hiking trails, and completing our scavenger hunts, you may be curious as to other ways to enjoy all the wonders the autumnal time of year brings. If you’re planning on heading out to a popular hiking trail, make sure to read a little about what the trail is like. For optimum fall foliage viewing, you’ll want make sure you pick a more elevated hike. Conkle’s Hollow Upper Trail (2.5 miles above the trees) and Cantwell Cliffs (2-mile gorge trail with about one mile of rim trail) are trails that may grant the best view!

If you want to bundle up and stay warm while checking out the trees, or maybe you have a car full of kiddos in tow, plan a day to drive down the Hocking Hills Scenic Byway. After your day of exploring, return to home base here at Ravenwood and enjoy some homemade Pub fare!

Or if you are looking for a more adventurous route, check out Grandma Gatewood’s Fall Colors Hike on October 17 starting at 9:00 AM. You will meet with the naturalist at the Old Man’s Cave Visitor Center for a strenuous hike that spans roughly 6 miles of the Grandma Gatewood trail. You will be traversing the section that runs from Old Man’s Cave to Cedar Falls and back while enjoying the scenic beauty and cultural personality. This hike does include several hills and steps and is not recommended for the easily winded individual. This hike is expected to last 3-4 hours.
