October Brewery Spotlight – Fat Head’s Brewery

One of the things we are passionate about here at Ravenwood Castle and the Malted Meeple is craft beer. We pride ourselves on having an excellent assortment of craft beers for the enjoyment of our guests. In our monthly Brewer’s Spotlight feature we raise our pints to the men and women who dedicate themselves to the brewing craft.

This month, we raise our pints to our local friends from Fat Head’s Brewery – a brewery that encourages everyone to chill out and have a beer!

Fat Head’s Brewery is based in Middleburg Heights, Ohio but was founded in 1992 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. They currently have locations in Pittsburgh, PA; North Olmstead, OH; Middleburg Heights, OH; and Portland, Oregon.

Originally begun as a craft beer bar, in 2009 Fat Head’s brew-master Matt Cole reached out to his long-time friend Glenn Benigni who was at that time the owner of Fat Head’s Craft Beer Bar. The two joined efforts on a new brewpub in North Olmstead, a partnership which paired Fat Head’s reputation as a craft beer bar with a great food menu. The result was a huge success!

Fat Head’s Brewery is 100% committed to the quality and consistency of the beers they brew. They purchase the best ingredients on the market to brew the best beers they can. They are also proud of the fact that they use “a metric ton of hops!”

During the month of October we will be featuring some of Fat Head’s most famous beers, including:

The Legend: Fat Head’s Head Hunter–  a 7.5% ABV 87 IBU dry hopped west coast style IPA with a huge hop characteristic of pine, grapefruit and citrus. Is it a bit uncivilized? A bit aggressive? Award-Winning? How about all of the above!

The Crowd Pleaser: Fat Head’s Bumble Berry  – a 5.3% 12 IBU Fruit Beer made with fresh spring honey and infused with fresh blueberries.  A light refreshing ale with a blueberry aroma, malt flavors, and a hint of sweetness. Get yo Buzz on!

Stop in to the Malted Meeple or Ravenwood Castle throughout October to enjoy a fresh Head Hunter or Bumble Berry. The Malted Meeple will also be hosting Fat Head’s Brewery on October 26th. Join us and a representative from the brewery for some great beer and great games!
