A few weeks ago, we highlighted why visiting the Hocking Hills area during the fall season is one of the most ideal times to sight see. While the leaves changing and the cool air coming in makes for a relaxing stay, you might be wondering what other special seasonal activities there are in the area this time of year. This week on Quoth the Raven we are spotlighting some October events around the Castle that are perfect for on-site guests and locals alike!
Oktoberfest at Brewery 33 – October 3rd, 2020 – Logan, OH (~25 minutes from Castle)
Kick October off right and attend Brewery 33’s Oktoberfest! Stop by and snag some grub from Schmidt’s Food Truck, enjoy German music, watch Sipowicz and the Shades of Puddy perform, indulge in two styles of Oktoberfest beers, and play games! Parking is free for this event.
Midnight at Moonville – October 10th, 2020 – Zaleski State Forest (~16 minutes from Castle)
Do you believe in ghosts? You just might after spending a night in the haunted Moonville Tunnel. Midnight at Moonville is a one-day Halloween-themed event featuring dramatic storytelling, wagon rides, regional craft vendors, souvenirs, historical presentations, music performances, roaming spooks, and much more. The event will end with an interactive demonstration of paranormal investigation techniques hosted by a respected research group.
This event runs from 3 PM to Midnight. Parking will be at 71945 Shea Road, McArthur, Ohio 45651. There will be a $5 parking charge per vehicle, but most activities and entertainment are free.
Grandma Gatewood’s Fall Colors Hike – October 17th, 2020 – Logan, OH (~25 minutes from Castle)
Bring along a cool drink and celebrate the season’s colors in one of the most popular Hocking Hills parks. Participants will meet with the naturalist at the Old Man’s Cave Visitor Center for a strenuous hike that spans 6 miles of the Grandma Gateway trail. This hike is not recommended for the easily winded individuals. The hike will last approximately 3-4 hours.
