We’re Just Getting Started!

These are exciting times at Ravenwood Castle. You may have already heard that the Ohio Hotel & Lodging Association has named Ravenwood Castle the Bed & Breakfast of the Year! Pam and I had the honor of receiving this award last week on behalf of the entire Ravenwood Castle team. This will join the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence on our wall, making 2013 a truly award winning year!

We would like to thank all of our wonderful guests for these awards. After all, it is your excellent reviews on TripAdvisor that help us receive this recognition. But don’t worry, we don’t plan on resting on our laurels. We have lots in store to keep earning those great reviews!

The holidays are just around the corner, and they bring with them another great slate of winter events for you to experience. December sees the start of our Winter of Gaming, as well as our annual visit from King Henry, and a James Bond Murder Mystery on New Year’s Eve. There are still a few spots available for our January events: our family favorite Alice in Ravenland weekend is always a hit with the kids, and the Young Frankenshteen Murder Mystery follows up on our recent zombie invasion. February rounds out our winter events with our first ever Beer Tasting Weekend, and we cap the Winter of Gaming off with our charity convention, Hoop & Stick! Speaking of conventions, there is some exciting news coming up regarding Con in the Castle 2014. Stay tuned for details!

In between arranging events, we’ve also been hard at work planning renovations and improvements to the castle and grounds, many of which will be happening over the next few months. The Raven’s Roost Pub renovation has already begun with the delivery of new tables and chairs, and the new bar itself is taking shape in my work shop. The Great Hall will also be getting a face lift with the introduction of some new tables and chairs. And of course we won’t forget about the guest rooms and cottages. They will all be receiving some touch ups, and Queen Victoria in particular will be getting a complete redecoration.

As if all of that weren’t enough, we’re beginning interviews this week for a new Assistant Innkeeper, we have some change ups in store for the pub food menu, and we’re currently running our second annual Cyber Week Deal.

We’re extremely proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish in the last year, but stay with us – we’ve only just begun!
