This week, we take a short break from announcing murder mysteries to discuss one of my other personal favorite Ravenwood Castle events – our Beer Tasting Weekends! Ravenwood Castle Beer Tasting Weekends aren’t your normal beer tasting dinners – these tastings last all weekend long. Two days full of good food, great beer and awesome breweries! The next of these amazing weekends will be held December 6th and 7th, and spotlights two great breweries!
Dinner Friday night features Victory Brewing from Downingtown, Pennsylvania. Neil Mentzer from Victory will be joining us to share a selection of their great beers. Friday’s menu will include spinach and artichoke dip w/wood fired flatbreads paired with Twisted Monkey; caesar salad with hearts of romain, house-made croutons, parmesan cheese and a signature caesar dressing paired with Sour Monkey; smoked brisket, augratin potatoes and cabbage & carrots paired with Golden Monkey; and carmel bread pudding paired with Java Latte Cold Brew Milk Stout. Neil has promised to bring along a special bonus beer as well, we’re excited to see what that is!
Saturday’s dinner will feature local favorite Jackie O’s Brewing. John Clift from Jackie O’s will be joining us to discuss a bit about the brewery and share some of their amazing brews. Saturday’s dinner menu will include potato skins w/cheddar cheese, applewood smoked bacon and green onions paired with Chomolungma Brown; Mediterranean Salad w/roasted red peppers, onion, cucumbers, chickpeas, feta cheese and a Greek balsamic dressing paired with Perpetum sour wheat ale; smoked half chicken, garlic mashed potatoes and green beans paired with Exact Change, a Hazy Double IPA normally only available in the Jackie O’s Brewpub; and New York cheesecake bites paired with Champion Ground, a Bourbon Barrel Aged Stout conditioned on Jamaican coffee beans. As a special welcome beer, we will be offering Jackie O’s Who Cooks For You, a New England Pale Ale.
As has become a tradition during our beer tasting weekends, there will be an informal tasting lineup Saturday at noon, which will feature some of our favorite offerings from the Raven’s Roost Pub.
